Everyone needs someone to listen and to be a sounding board when we are trying to figure things out for ourselves. We all need someone to look to for guidance and advice, someone who has knowledge and experience that they are willing to share. All of us need someone to lean on, someone we trust and we can speak to in confidence. Someone who instinctively knows what we need – to support us, cheer us on or to challenge us.
Whilst coaching and mentoring are two different approaches they often work hand in hand. Put simply coaching and mentoring are about meaningful conversations, conversations that move people forwards towards their goals.
